David Brittin – Labour’s Candidate For Dorridge and Hockley Heath

For the past 17 years my wife and I have made our home in Dorridge. Now retired after a career in newspaper journalism and public relations I am active in our local community in the Knowle Society, as a volunteer teacher, and as a committee member of Dorridge University of the Third Age.

Dorridge is one of the most pleasant places in the borough but there is continuing pressure for more development. I strongly believe this must be done in a sensitive way with an emphasis on affordable housing. A shortage of this type of housing means too many young people are forced to move away when they want a home of their own.

There is also a need to tackle the increasing problem of parked vehicles restricting the free flow of traffic on the main roads as well as causing inconvenience and danger to pedestrians by blocking the pavements.
