Mark Szrejder -Labour Candidate For Elmdon 2021
My name is Mark Szrejder and I was born in Birmingham in 1959 and have lived in the Elmdon area for over 50 years. I am married to my wife Debbie and we have two adult daughters. I am currently employed as a Public Sector Accountant having over 39 years’ experience working in the NHS, Police, Civil Service and Local Government. I have extensive experience in senior financial management and planning and as a committed socialist and Trades Unionist I will work hard to improve your daily lives wherever possible.
Being elected as your representative would enable me to influence decisions affecting the local economy such as sustainable growth and investment supported by improvements to the infrastructure such as HS2 and enhanced rapid bus services, improve local parking, minimising congestion and by helping to develop green transport schemes including introducing more, safer cycling routes. I understand that too many people are suffering in our community because they are in low-paid jobs and are therefore unable to afford a home of their own and I would work hard to improve prosperity and living standards for all its residents by working with local government and housing associations in order to provide more affordable housing in Solihull wherever possible, and not just developments for the wealthy.
My father was Polish and served in the British armed forces during the Second World War. I therefore understand the complexities of living in a diverse community and would give everyone an opportunity to have their voice heard and contribute whatever their age and background, in order to improve social and economic equality for everyone. Under the Tories and their policy of austerity we have seen decades of reduced investment in public services including Healthcare, Neighbourhood Policing, Roads and Public Transport, Housing and Education. I would therefore work with partners and representatives in these key sectors to help residents improve local services my maximising investment and through the effective use of its resources.
