Janet Marsh has lived in Silhill Ward for 29 years and has been the Labour Party candidate in that ward at every local election since 2006. A graduate chemist, she spent most of her career in the gas industry including some 10 years as head of the consumer watchdog for energy users in the whole of the West Midlands region. She is a JP on the Birmingham and Solihull Bench and a governor of two Solihull primary schools.
Janet is also supported by the Co-operative Party, which works with Labour to be a voice for co-operative valuesand principles. She believes that things work best when ordinary people have a voice, and when services are accountable to the people who use them.
If elected, Janet will campaign on Solihull council for:
– Better and fairer funding for Solihull schools
– The reversal of Tory cuts to our police service
– More affordable housing (including social housing) for Solihull residents, particularly young people
– A sustainable local economy with good job prospects
– A real “Living Wage” as a minimum for all, including Local Authority employees
– The best possible transport links for both work and leisure.
