About Us

Although Solihull is one of the richest boroughs in the country, it also has some of the greatest levels of inequality. Too many people scrape by on poverty wages; too many of our young people have to leave Solihull to find affordable housing. Public services have been in decline. Many of our elderly are isolated and lonely. Solihull deserves better.

The way that communities are rallying to support each other during the Covid-19 crisis shows that many people agree that there is a need for #FairDealSolihull and that we must rebuild in a way that puts people and communities before profit. If you agree, please get involved in our campaigns and activities.

It is really good news that Solihull Hospital is now a facility that is clear of Covid-19, enabling as many local patients, as is safe and practical, to undergo surgery and other procedures that were ‘paused’ during the initial response to the pandemic.

This has meant that the Walk In Centre and the Minor Injuries Unit have had to be closed and moved elsewhere.  This is entirely necessary, at present, to ensure that the hospital remains   “Covid-free”.  However, Silhill & St Aphege Branch Labour Party urges all residents to keep a watching brief to ensure that when life returns to normal, the facilities that have been removed (particularly the MIU), are once again restored to our hospital.
