Catherine Gulati -Labour Candidate For Olton 2021
Having lived and worked in the local area for 20 years, I’ve seen our schools, parks, transport and other services suffer from Tory cuts. As councillor, I would work to improve the lives of local people. I believe in the values of the Labour Party, of fairness and of supporting everyone in the community, as the best way to achieve a happy and safe place to live.
I have wide-ranging experience that will help me in this role:
- As a mum and as Vice-Chair of a School Governing Body, I’ve met parents who miss the children’s centres that have closed and whose schools face severe cuts.
- Working for a local charity, I’ve worked closely with local GPs, supporting older people isolated in their homes struggling to find the right services.
- Working with volunteers, I’ve met young people unable to find work or affordable homes.
- I’ve represented local people’s views in high-level meetings with Health and Social Care Managers, challenging them to improve services when I worked for Solihull LINk.
I have the experience to listen to local people and to stand up for the needs of Olton residents.
